05Dec24: Completed v.6 of the Hainhofer Lautenbuch, consisting of 38 galliards. So far, this is my favorite volume. The galliards are beautiful, with few errors for the most part, and often appear to be unique (at least I don’t seem to have come up with concordances for many of them). Composers are Bésard. Ferrabosco, Mertel, Buononcini, Dowland, and others. On it, I found a very nice galliard attributed to Dowland that does not appear in Poulton’s collection. It seems worthy of Dowland.
