11Jul24: Added a new MS:, the Schenckinck lute ms (1582). This contains 40 pieces, mostly dances, all for 6-course lute and all relatively easy to play. It includes several versions of the battle piece, much later exemplified by John Dowland’s King of Denmark’s Galliard.. Some of these, as well as one of the dances, seem to have been meant to have been played with two or three lutes together, but I was not able to get the parts to match up nicely. They mostly sound OK as solo pieces. There are also one padoana, four passamezzos, and three vocal intabulations.
