26Jul20: Completed another Hans Gerle volume: Musica und Tabulatur (1546), again based on the excellent work of Rainer Boldhaus. Apart from one Milano Ricercar (Ness #3), a short Josquin piece, and a saltarello, this volume contains many vocal intabulations, a few German lieder, but mainly intabulations of French chansons. These are competent intabulations but they suffer a bit from a rather formulaic approach to ornamentations and especially cadential formulas.
