17Sep25: I completed the first 25 pieces from Kapsberger Intavolatura di Chitarone, v. 1 (1604).
These are written for 10 or 11-course theorbo.
Contents, so far, are 17 partitas, mostly fairly simple, 6 toccatas, mostly fairly challenging, including the famous Toccata arpeggiata, which is actually one of the simplest to play (You should look at the intro to v.3 for directions on playing the arpeggios. Kapsberger is quite specific about this.) Then there is the well-known piece “Ruggiero” and an “Aria di Fiorenza”.
As in v.3, the rhythms are often very usual and challenging, and the harmonies are rather daring as well.
