20Sep25: I completed work on Kapsberger Intavolatura di Chitarone, v.1 (1604).

The whole volume contains 6 toccatas, 44 partitas, 12 galliards, 4 ballo Franceses (courantes or jigs?), 4 ballo tedescos (allemandes?), and one each of a sonata arpeggiata, romanesca, aria di Fiorenza, passamezzo, Ruggiero, folia, and a piece entitled “Tenore del Kapsberger”. I am not sure if the latter is meant to be an accompaniment for some other piece but maybe not, since most of it is arpeggiated.

The rhythms are intricate but ultimately rational, fitting nicely into a consistent value per measure with almost no errors.

Again, I suggest consulting Kapsberger’s intro for data on the arpeggiation.

All pieces are playable on an 11-course instrument and 49 out of 77 are playable with only 10 courses.
