24Mar25: In 1546, Giovanni M. da Crema published a book of intabulations and dances as v.1 (I put an edition of it up on my site 21 years ago). Then, the same year, he published a nearly identical book labeled as v.3. It looks as though he looked at v.1, saw some things he could improve, and republished the material with the improvements. Some errors were corrected and a very few ornamental passages and other changes were introduced in v.3. Some minor changes were made in the right hand fingerings. However, some errors were also introduced that were not in v.1.  I have released an edition of v.3 that, I hope, takes advantage of the material in both v.1 and v.3.

The work itself shows Crema’s consummate skill as an intabulator of polyphonic sources. There are a couple of religious works, but mostly chansons and a few madrigals.
