08Apr25: Noriaki Yokoo has just put in an enormous effort in skillfully encoding an edition of Phalèse’s Carminum pro Testudine, v.7 (1546). This consists of 50 pieces: two lute duets (one is a Cara Cossa), several fantasias by Milano and Borrono and a variety of anonymous dances of different kinds: passamezzos, padoanas, galliards, and including a couple of bouratas (a dance form not easily found anywhere else). The source is very clear but requires a bit of editorial work to make it playable.
