More Pisador

12May24: I have added a number of villancicos and a couple of romances to Libro de Musica de Vihuela, as well as two Josquin masses. I got some help from Ron Andrico and Stephen Arndt in sussing out the demarcations between words in the text underlay. I have provided a mensural part when it’s lacking but indicated by colored notes. I suspect that there may have been additional stanzas for the villancicos and romances that perhaps the users of the time would have been familiar with. I do know that the poem of Passava el Rey Moro had many stanzas. In the masses, Pisador provides colored notes to indicate what he calls the “canto llano” — literally the plain chant, but I think he means the cantus firmus on which the masses are constructed.
